Report: Salaries up among H-1B workers

On Behalf of | Aug 22, 2017 | Employment Immigration |

Some specialty workers from foreign countries work in the U.S. on an H-1B visa, a temporary work visa. Many things can have impacts on such workers. This includes what salary they receive. Their work salary can have major financial implications for an H-1B worker. Such implications, in turn, can have major impacts regarding a worker’s long-term goals.

A recent Pew Research Center analysis of federal data indicates that, over the past decade, there has been an upward trend in the salaries of H-1B workers. It is estimated that, in fiscal year 2007, the median salary companies planned on paying H-1B workers (according to applications) was a little under $70,000. According to estimates, by fiscal year 2016, this median salary had risen to $80,000.

One wonders what overall impacts this salary trend has had on H-1B workers and demand regarding the H-1B program among employers and workers.

Another thing that can have major effects on the life and goals of an H-1B worker are immigration issues that come up for them during the course of living and working in the United States. Many different types of such issues can arise. What options an H-1B worker has for addressing such issues depends on the exact nature of the issue they are facing and their individual circumstances. So, when an H-1B worker here in California is facing any type of immigration issue, it can be critical for them to reach out to a skilled immigration lawyer for well-tailored guidance on dealing with the issue.
