John R. Alcorn, Our Founder and Legacy
In 1980, John R. Alcorn (1949-2014) founded the Law Offices of John R. Alcorn. Over the next 35 years, the firm’s reputation for excellence in representing clients grew nationally and internationally. Officially certified as an Immigration and Nationality Law Specialist attorney, John demonstrated a high level of experience in this complex field of law.
John had served as a Commissioner on the Immigration and Nationality Law Advisory Commission of the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. He was admitted to practice law before the United States Supreme Court, offices of the United States Department of Homeland Security throughout all 50 states, all courts of the State of California, all courts of the District of Columbia, the United States District Courts for the Southern, Central and Northern Districts of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Stanford University awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science to Mr. Alcorn in 1970, and he received a Juris Doctor degree from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1973. He served as a Captain and Judge Advocate in the United States Marine Corps from 1974 to 1977, and worked on U.S. immigration matters for a major U.S. corporation from 1977 to 1979. A devoted husband and father, John Alcorn represented employers and immigrants from around the world. He was named one of the top attorneys in Orange County in 2012 and 2014 by OC Metro Magazine.
John passed away in October 2014 and named Angie Navarro Sigala as his successor. The values John Alcorn espoused are still evident in everything the firm does today.
